Democracy, Minority Rights and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by Abhay Kumar
On the occasion of Babasaheb Ambedkar's 134th birth anniversary, Abhay Kumar has authored an article in the Urdu daily Inquilab (April 15, 2025), reflecting on his vision of democracy and minority rights. At a time when majoritarian politics poses a serious threat to democratic values, Ambedkar’s insights offer a compelling path forward. He firmly believed that democracy cannot truly succeed unless the rights and interests of minorities are actively protected. That is why Ambedkar emphasised the need for proportionate and effective representation of minorities. Importantly, his definition of "minority" was not narrow or limited. He extended the term to include all socially marginalised groups—such as religious minorities, Dalits, and Adivasis—who face systemic discrimination. These ideas remain deeply relevant today, especially as right-wing parties attempt to construct a communal majority that threatens the inclusive fabric of democracy.

The Importance of Ambedkar-led Mahad Conference (March 19-20, 1927) in History by Abhay Kumar
The Importance of the Mahad Conference (March 19-20, 1927) in History: Writing in Inquilab Urdu daily (March 18, 2025), Abhay Kumar reflects on how the Babasaheb Ambedkar-led Mahad Agitation marked a turning point in the Dalit movement. Ambedkar delivered a powerful message to marginalised castes, urging them to take charge of their own liberation rather than relying on others for their emancipation.
